Lux Coffee officially opened up a new location in Scottsdale last week, after several months of anticipation. Back in August, Lux took to Instagram to announce their new coffee shop location at Kierland in North Scottsdale. This marks the third location for the popular coffee shop brand with existing locations at the Central Ave Corridor and one in Flagstaff.
What to expect
Like the Lux Central location, the Scottsdale store offers full breakfast and lunch (including to-go options), and will have a menu very similar to the Lux Central spot, with a few changes in the works. Fans of the Central location will instantly feel right at home as the Kierland location will also feature a table adorned with baked goods and an assortment of pastries just like it’s downtown counterpart.
When asked over the summer about what makes Lux coffee stand out from other coffee shops, Calahan said, ““It takes old principles and ideas of making espresso and kind of brings it back into a new age.” Another unique feature is that Lux coffee uses La Marzocco Linea, a hand-made manual Italian espresso machine. “Most espresso machines now are just push of a button kinds of things and [La Marzocca Linea] is actually a hand lever and you preinfuse the espresso with water,” Calahan told the AZ Daily Sun.

One key difference between the Phoenix and Scottsdale locations is hours. While the downtown location is open daily from 6 a.m. to midnight, staying open till 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, the Kierland coffee shop location is open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekly with an earlier closing time on Sundays.
Another difference is that the Kierland location will not serve cocktails. However, being right near Kierland Commons, there are plenty of spots nearby to get drinks. The main focus will be the coffee. Lux boasts of hand roasted coffee all done in-house, roasting beans from; Ethiopia, Guatemala, Uganda, and Zambia.
What to order
Lunch is served from 6 a.m. until noon. The lunch menu includes 11 different items with prices ranging from $4.50 – $12.
