New Bars and Restaurants to Try in Phoenix Metro Area

Arizona restaurants and bars have amazing food and drink options. There’s even more options available, as new restaurants and bars open up each week around the Phoenix area.

The Kolache Café: This new Ahwatukee café serves kolaches, a popular pastry in the Czech Republic. They have traditional kolaches that are served open-faced and filled with fruit fillings, as well as Texas-style kolaches filled with meats, vegetables and cheeses.

Tap That! Downtown: This self-serve beer bar and restaurant in downtown Phoenix has 35 self-pour beer and wine taps. The menu features flatbreads, nachos, and sandwiches, with breakfast on the weekends.

GuacStar Kitchen & Cantina: This plant-based restaurant in Tempe features Mexican-inspired shareable appetizers, including guacamole, fruit guacamole, and sheet pan nachos. They also have a few tacos, a burrito, and an enchilada.

Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurants: The first Arizona location from this Illinois-based winery and restaurant chain is located in Scottsdale. It has wine and cocktails with a variety of meat and seafood dishes, salads, flatbreads, pastas, burgers and sandwiches.

Churro Gonutz: The popular donut food truck has opened a physical storefront in Phoenix. Like its name suggests, they specialize in churro donuts with ice cream-topped churros, churro bites, churro fries, and a handful of signature churro creations.

California Fish Grill: The California-based seafood restaurant opened its first Arizona location in Mesa. The menu features a variety of seafood dishes, including bowls, tacos, grilled or fried fish, and salads.

Wicked Brews, Bites & Spirits: Wicked Brews opened last fall in Ahwatukee (in the the former Uncle Bear’s Grill and Tap location). Featuring locally-brewed beer and ciders, wine and cocktails, the menu has shareable appetizers, burgers, sandwiches, nachos, and salads.

Belly Kitchen & Bar: A South Asian restaurant and cocktail bar in Phoenix, Belly Kitchen & Bar is currently open for takeout only. On the menu, you’ll find a few spring and veggie rolls, braised clay pot dishes, Pan Mi, and a handful of specialties and noodle dishes.

Lure Fish House: The restaurant chain from California opened its first restaurant in Arizona. It features a variety of seafood dishes, like soups, bowls, ceviches, seafood burgers and burritos, as well as grilled or fried favorites.

Due to COVID-19, restaurants are operating at 50% capacity, but many dining rooms and patios are open. Takeout, pickup, and delivery are also available at many restaurants. Make sure to check each restaurant’s website for the latest hours and dining options, as well as their current COVID safety requirements.
