There’s no getting around it. Arizona is hot during the summer! This year, though, we’ve had more than 40 days above 110 degrees, which breaks the record for the hottest summer on record.

People who live in Arizona have come to expect hot weather during this time of year, but it does come with some advantages. The heat can be a perfect excuse for ice cream and other frozen treats! Here are 8 of the best places to get ice cream in Phoenix! You can get ice cream, snow cones, sorbet, and other tasty summer treats in Arizona to cool off during this heatwave.

1. Churn, Phoenix

Churn has the everyday favorite flavors as well as a rotating array of unique ice cream and sorbet flavors. Grab a cup, cone, milkshake, or sundae. Add a coffee or cookie to your order (or just grab one when not in the frozen treat mood!).

2. Petersen’s Ice Cream & Cafe, Gilbert

In Downtown Gilbert, this ice cream parlor is reminiscent of days past. With so many flavors, both traditional and more unique, this is a long-time favorite in Chicago and opened in Arizona in 2012 before moving to Gilbert in 2015.

3. Scooptacular, Laveen, Glendale, and Phoenix

Handcrafted ice cream, often in bright colors and unique flavors, Scooptacular has multiple locations around the Valley. With ice cream, shaved ice, and ice cream cakes, it’s a perfect place to cool down.

4. Melt, Phoenix

6. Nami, Phoenix

Vegans don’t need to be left out of the ice cream fun! Nami features 100 percent vegan soft serve in vanilla, chocolate, and swirl. The menu features topping options to create cookies and cream, banana cream pie, and more. Nami also features breakfast and brunch, and nearby Green has a full plant-based menu.

7. Sweet Republic, Scottsdale, Phoenix and Tempe (coming soon)

For gourmet ice cream, Sweet Republic is a favorite for many. Both the Scottsdale and Phoenix stores feature a similar menu, with some unique, specialty flavors available at each location.
