There is always something to do in the valley, and the month of August will not disappoint our music fans in Phoenix. From Pop sensation Sam Smith to gritty New Orleans artist August Alsina, Phoenix is hosting some of the biggest stars in music for next month.

Hailing from London, Sam Smith, a first gained popularity in 2012, when he made his mark on the electronic track “Latch,” by Disclosure. With a deliciously smooth falsetto, the openly gay 23-year-old vocalist celebrated fourGrammy Awards in 2015 alone for his album, In the Lonely Hour.

After facing surgery for a vocal cord hemorrhage, Smith was forced to cancel upcoming tour dates and resign himself to vocal rest. Recovered and ready to deliver musical genius to his fans once more, Smith is currently working on new music and headlining a cross country tour.

Blueface in Phoenix AZ

Blue Face

Blueface, real name Johnathan Michael Porter, is an American rapper and songwriter. You may know Blueface from the end of last year when he became a viral internet meme due to the tattoo of Benjamin Franklin on the side of his face.

With a unique voice and an off-beat style of rapping, Blueface has often compared to fellow rappers E-40 and Suga Free. Blueface has explained his musical creation by saying he writes “to the beat,” and uses the same instrumental as a base for all of his songs.

If you would like to catch Blueface live, you can do so this August in Phoenix where he will be performing at the Comerica Theatre.

Taylor Swift meteoric rise to pop legend status has not been without controversy. From her private life being scrutinized to her well-publicized drama with other celebrities, it has not all been smooth sailing for the princess of pop.

Explicitly autobiographical in nature,  her music is examined in excruciating detail, and Taylor Swift never fails to give the gossip bloggers something to talk about.

Known for her energetic and theatrical performances, Taylor Swift’s visit to Phoenix is sure to wow audiences this summer.

Hailing from the suburbs of New Orleans, August Alsina had a colorful childhood that was exposed to gang life, drug abuse, and addiction, leaving the rapper with a  somber and gritty lyricism that fans can’t get enough of.

Alsina grew his initial fanbase via YouTube, uploading videos of himself singing covers in his distinctive style fusing R&B with hip-hop.

After overcoming a series of personal setbacks and health issues since his debut, Alsina is back touring and giving fans what they want. Alsina’s most recently remixed Kehlani’s single “Footsteps,” combined with a visual to celebrate the fifth anniversary of his debut album, Testimony.

Talib Kweli

Talib Kweli is a legendary rapper, writer, and activist who has collaborated with heavyweight artists such as Mos Def and hip-hop duo Black Star. With a deep catalog of solo releases to his name, Kweli is taking his act on the road this August to Phoenix. Combining the worlds of music, comedy, and comedian Seth Bryrd will host popular culture, the highly anticipated show.

DJ Spintelect will be the opening act for Kweli, as well as Brazilian rapper NIKO IS and fans will be able to enjoy classic hits such as “Hot Thing” and “Get By,” as well as Kweli’s newer material.
