Despite the weird year that 2020 has been, or maybe especially because of that, New Year’s Eve is a highly anticipated event! Even though it’s going to look different than past years, there’s still a lot going on to help you celebrate. Many people may decide to stay home or have a more low-key holiday; but others will go out and celebrate 2020 being over — and 2021 finally arriving! Whatever you decide to do, remember to stay safe and healthy by socially distancing, wearing a mask, washing your hands, and following all guidelines the event has for your safety. Here are things you can do to celebrate New Year’s Eve in the Phoenix area. Here is our list of what to do for New Year’s Eve 2020.
If You’re Going Out…
Restaurant Reservations: Many local restaurants are hosting special New Year dinners. Check with your favorite for events and reservations. Here’s a few you could check out if you’re looking for something new:

Go Dancing: Head out for dancing lessons, or your favorite dance spot. If you’re looking for swing lessons, NRG Ballroom has New Year’s Eve lessons so you can start the year off with a new skill and start dancing through the new year.
Head to a Party: There are still going to be socially distant parties this year at many restaurants, hotels, clubs, and bars. Check with your favorites or try one of these:

Find a Family Event: If you’re celebrating with little ones, a family New Year’s celebration might be just what you need.
- Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament in Scottsdale
- Phoenix Zoo ZooLights
Run a Race: If you’re the athletic type, or if you’re considering adding running or healthy lifestyle to your New Year’s resolutions, consider a New Year’s 5K.
If You’re Staying Home
Decorate: Shop online or head to Target, Walmart, or Dollar Tree to grab some fun 2021 decorations.
Play Some Games: You can play board games or buy some special New Years games like this Scattegories from Etsy.
Toast the New Year: Just because you stayed home doesn’t mean you can’t have a toast or a big countdown. Buy some champagne or sparkling cider and toast at midnight!
Watch the Ball Drop: Like so much else, the ball drop is going virtual. But that means you won’t miss out on anything! The New Year’s Eve festivities will still take place, so tune in to network television stations.
