Fans of the favorite food restaurant from the hit movie “Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle” can now rejoice! White Castle will open its first restaurant in the valley of the sun in 2019 in Scottsdale. The company announced on Friday, August 24th, 2018 that the restaurant is expanding to Arizona. The White Castle will open on the northwest corner of Via De Ventura and Loop 101 at The Block at Pima Center.
Excited to Come to The Valley
The Vice President of White Castle, Jamie Richardson had this to say in the following statement; “For years, cravers in Arizona have been asking us to feed their souls by bringing our delicious sliders to the state, and we’re happy to announce that we’re going to make this dream a reality, we are eager to become a member of the Scottsdale community.”
Other than the year that the restaurant will be open, which is 2019, there has been no specific day when it will be open. The new location for the restaurant is expected to bring new jobs anywhere from 50 to 75 jobs to the area in Scottsdale.
Brief History of White Castle
Daniel Lupien, who is the manager of the Palmer Development Group that is helping with the building process had this to say about the news, “We are thrilled to add this iconic brand to our lineup at The Block. The fact that White Castle chose our site for their first corporate expansion west of St. Louis is a real testament to the dynamics of the area and specifically The Block at Pima Center. They certainly had many options to choose from.”
White Castle was first founded in 1921 Wichita, Kansas, and based in in Columbus, Ohio. The food chain is home to the Original Slider and prides itself on becoming one of the first burger restaurants in the Midwest. It was also first featured in a major motion picture on film in 2004, with “Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle.”
